When Dell Vostro Notebook V13 restore the default factory

The notebook comes with Windows Dell Vostro V13 7 delivered in a 32-bit version. Now you can install another operating system, p.E.. Windows 7 in einer 64Bit-Version. If you later want to sell the notebook, you might want to restore the default factory. "No problem" has perhaps thought, The notebook has a recovery partition, especially when you install the new operating system has not deleted.

Short Googling results: Just before Windows starts, You can start the recovery program with ctrl-F11. Unfortunately this doesn't work just. Results in a call to the Dell support: Somehow, it comes with the program "Dell DataSafe Local Backup" - more accurate is to learn only for service fee. OK, We first try, whether we get it so. Can the program here Download (The basic version is sufficient). Unfortunately it does not offer easy, the existing recovery to restore and you can specify just no path or partition for the source. -So: Again no solution.

Further research reveals: The recovery partition is NTFS formatted. In Windows 7 can you access it - you must only with the disk management assign a drive letter of the partition (p.E.. d:). Then you can see (d):dellimagefactory.wim the image of the Windows partition in the level of delivery to find. This file is in the format of Microsoft ImageX - and can thus viewed, changed and be restored. ImageX is free and can here be downloaded. It is necessary as it. After d:imageX extract.

Now we have it all (OK, actually, we need only imageX) together, to restore the original state. To do this we press upon Booting F8, choose "Repair your computer" and then "Console". Now you can reformat the Windows partition using diskpart and

(c):imageximagex / apply c:dellimagefactory.wim 1 d:

restore the factory default in the Windows partition. Note, that here c: now the recovery partition and (d): the Windows work partition is.

Still a note: The information here seem to be not fully apply the Dell Vostro. In addition: There, you can use not PeToUsb, to create a bootable USB-stick, because this is not a DOS.
